Why are all webshops now suddenly having to implement 3D secure?

From September 14, 2019 an PSD2 rule will come into force, namely the Strong Customer Authentication or SCA. Back in 2015, the EU decided they wanted to implement initiatives, which would make it more difficult to commit fraud on someone else’s card. The SCA step means that you (as a card holder) will have to identify yourself with an extra step in a payment process. On practical terms that means 2 of 3 methods: Something you are (e.g. Touch ID, Face Detection, Iris Scan). Something you know (e.g. a static login/password or a PIN) Something you have (e.g., a card…

How do I choose the best payment module to my website?

The answer to which payment module is best for you depends on your needs now and in the foreseeable future. A payment module provider is also called a PSP (Payment Service Provider). It is worth the time to use a bit of effort to choose your payment module, so you are sure that you choose a supplier that not only supports your needs now but also in the future. The price must be coupled with your wishes and capabilities – sometimes it is best to put together your own package, while other times it is better to pay more per…

Have you placed “the Payment Hat” on the right head in your business?

What does it really mean to your business if you do not have control over your payment solution? In most companies, there is a person who is responsible for payments, as payments are an essential part of doing business. However, the “Payment Hat” rarely sits at the head of a person who has expert knowledge in the field. And why is it important, can you ask? For many companies, lack of knowledge equals a too expensive payment solution which does not function in an optimum way and does not support the strategy of sales, resale and up-selling. It costs money,…

Can I no longer surcharge from 2018?

No! Not from the start of 2018. The EU Payment Service Directive 2 (PSD2) is from 2015 and applies in principle already, but must be implemented in national law in all EU member states by 13th of January 2018. Therefore, it will not be allowed to surcharge, ie. add the card fee you as a merchant spays to accept the card to your customers “bill”. This is for “standard four party scheme cards” that are regulated under “Interchange fee regulation*”, which means ordinary cards such as Visa, MasterCard and Dankort, regardless of whether they are debit or credit cards –…

If it ain’t broken…

Online payment solutions and why it is a good idea to spend a bit of time on yours… Once a customer has chosen a product, filled out his or her details and pressed “Pay”, they will want the item! And if something goes wrong, it’s a 100% sale you lose. Unfortunately, too few web shops spend time on this part of the process, but trust the PSP (Adyen, DIBS, QuickPay, ePay etc.) to control what happens in this part of the flow. So – do you ever consider the fact, that this flow may be improved or that it could…

Dankort Secured by Nets – What is it?

Dankort Secured by Nets is the name of a new security measure on Dankort, which asks the customer / cardholder to enter an additional code that he / she receives on his mobile phone. Or as Nets itself writes: “Two factors (Dankort + phone number) that help reduce the risk of third-party abuse of your Dankort.” If you customer is in an area with my cellphone coverage, and therefore cannot receive an SMS, the customer is able to use NemId instead, allowing the transaction to be completed. Possibly your customers have already been registered via their bank (assuming the bank…

Payment forms – which should I choose for my website?

An important part of starting a webshop or as a “next step” to get more visitors and more purchases is to ensure that you have the forms of payment on your webshop that your customers want to use. You can see links at the bottom of the page for more information on the forms of payment I mention in the below. NB. Select a payment module (PS) that supports the payment options you want. The last thing you want to do is make a direct integration to Klarna (Sweden), iDeal (Holland) or Sofort (Germany) because your payment module cannot support…

Omni-channel, multi-channel and cross-channel – buzzords of 2016

Let’s state with Omni-Channel or Omni-Commerce. Omni is – according to www.dictionary.com – “a combining form meaning “all,””, or in other words, all channels. The word is used, in its purest and (I believe) its most correct form about a sale experience which allows customers a smooth shopping experience across platforms and across physical stores, call- centers, a purchase on the shop’s website and where the consumer might be present. A simple search on Google gives 17.2 million results and if you start from the top, the confusion will be close to total. To argue that one’s business is Omni-Channel is…
